Best Madrid Airport Hotels

Madrid Airport hotels are perfect if you have an early morning flight. Or, if you have a late arrival, you might like to stay at the airport for a night instead of trying to figure out trains the moment you touch down.

But the truth is that Madrid is not far from the airport. So, depending on the traffic, in 30 minutes you can go from Madrid’s downtown (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Cibeles) to the airport by car. If you add to this one of the best networks of buses, subway and trains, there is no real need to sleep at the airport in most cases.

That being said, if you are flying on one of those very early low-cost flights, your public transport options are limited and getting to the airport on time can become a bit more difficult.

There are several hotels near Madrid Airport, in three main locations:

  • In the town of Barajas, near terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the airport.
  • A couple of business districts near the airport.
  • IFEMA, the Madrid fair, which is not far from the airport.

So, I’ve collected the best hotel options for early travelers departing from Madrid airport.

My Favorite Madrid Airport Hotels

Hilton Madrid Airport: A big hotel with the design and room sizes that are traditional at the Hilton brand, but in the middle of an industrial park. The good (very good) is that their transfer bus to the airport runs every 20 minutes from 4:00 and they are literally next to Terminal 1 (T1). They also have a swimming pool you can use all year long.

Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport: It’s located in a business district near the airport. There are no shops or services in the surrounding area. The Crowne Plaza is a high standard hotel with impeccable service and very comfortable rooms. Despite being, the most distant hotel from the airport, it’s my favorite. Excellent staff, wonderful rooms and a perfect transfer service!

täCH Madrid Airport: The hotel, located in Barajas, is a relatively new hotel with comfortable and elegant rooms (but that can be a bit dark because of their lighting system). Breakfast is simple, but buffet-like and at a very affordable price. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Barajas metro station, which allows you to easily get to the city center. You need to book the airport transfer in advance.

Axor Feria: It’s located in a business district near the airport. The Plenilunio shopping mall is a 5-minute walk from the hotel and it’s the only food option in the surrounding area.
It’s a very comfortable and new hotel with design rooms. You need to book the airport transfer in advance. It’s a medium size van shared with the Hotel Axor Barajas nearby.

Pullman Madrid Airport & Feria: This hotel is in the IFEMA area, where the Feria de Madrid facilities are located (2-minute walk from the Campo de las Naciones metro station). It’s a high standard hotel with impeccable service and very comfortable rooms. You need to book the airport transfer in advance. It’s a medium size van shared with the Hotel Novotel Campo de las Naciones nearby.

Hotel Nuevo Boston: It’s located in a business district near the airport. The Plenilunio shopping mall is a 5-minute walk from the hotel and it’s the only food option in the surrounding area.
It’s a high standard hotel with great service and large and very comfortable rooms. You need to book the airport transfer in advance.

Sercotel Madrid Aeropuerto: The Sercotel is in the Alameda de Osuna neighborhood, very close to the airport (T1, T2, T3 terminals). This renovated hotel with has large, comfortable and elegant rooms, and it also  has family rooms. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Alameda de Osuna subway station, which allows you to reach the center of Madrid without paying the special supplement for traveling to/from the airport.

Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Barajas: Located in the small town of Barajas, you can find shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel features the well-known Ibis standard, – new and comfortable rooms for those who travel on a tight budget. The airport transfer works without prior reservation, which can be a problem. The van used to make the transfer to the airport is shared with guests of other hotels of the Accor group, and as the Hotel Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Barajas is last on the transfer route, it can already arrive full at the hotel and require the passenger to take the subway or a taxi to its terminal to not miss the flight.

Hotel Maydrit Airport: The Maydrit is in the Alameda de Osuna neighborhood, very close to the airport (T1, T2, T3 terminals). This is a modern and very comfortable hotel, with excellent rooms and large bathrooms. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the El Capricho subway station, which allows you to reach the center of Madrid without paying the special supplement for traveling to/from the airport.

Can’t Find What You Are Looking For?

You can also use the following search box to look for other airport hotels in Madrid.

When searching for a hotel near Madrid airport make sure to carefully evaluate two conditions:

  • The hotels offers a free transfer to or from the airport, and the hours and frequency of the service (not all hotels offer 24-hour transfer).
  • Public transport is available nearby to get you to or from Madrid.

The first question is essential. The second one will depend a lot on whether we are planning to go to Madrid or not.
