Bike rental Madrid: explore the city hiring a bicycle

Go to a bike rental Madrid shop if you want to explore the city pedaling. Biking is a healthy, sustainable and fun way to see the city.

Moving around Madrid by car, unfortunately, is not always the best option. You can get stuck in traffic, finding parking spots is a pain in the back (and it’s expensive!), not to mention paying for petrol can also be quite expensive.

But having a bicycle eliminates all of that! No traffic, no problem with finding a parking spot, no petrol needed, and renting a bicycle in the Madrid is super easy.

Madrid may not be as bike friendly as Amsterdam, Seville or Barcelona, but the city’s newly constructed cycle lanes allow you to explore many of its remarkable sights on two wheels while also absorbing some history and culture along the way.

So, renting your own bike is a great alternative if you want to follow your own itinerary and stop for a photo, coffee, or a bite to eat whenever you want.

Here’s a list with my favorite bike rental Madrid shops.

Trixi

Address: Calle de los Jardines, 12 (10 min walk from Plaza de Cibeles)

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00. Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 20:00.

Trixi rents both regular and electric bikes. The later offer all the advantages of the traditional bikes and with a small engine allowing you to ride swiftly and effortless. Despite you may think electric bikes are only for lazy, they are extremely comfortable and easy to ride: you can pedal and stop doing so whenever you want.

Electric bikes are extremely easy to use (even for someone like me who isn’t a bike pro). The tour allows you to breeze through Madrid without being tired. I’ve tried them myself and they are surprisingly good!

Apart from the tours, you can also rent an electric bike and start immediately to explore the city on your own. The staff will provide all sorts of useful information and recommendations on where and when to go. If you are an independent traveller, this is definitely an option not to miss.

Rent & Roll

Address: Calle Felipe IV, 10 (2 min walk from El Retiro park)

The bikes are great, equipped with gears and a basket. The prices are really good compared with other competitors. But probably the best thing about Rent & Roll is their service. Ask the staff to show you the less touristy areas on the map and gave you some insider tips.

In addition to this, they offer great bike tours around the city!

Rent a Bike Seville offers only several types of bikes: trek bikes, road bicycles, mountain bicycles and tandems. So you can choose the one that suits you best!

You can either rent a bicycle directly at the shop or you can do it online. If you do so, they will arrange everything to deliver and pick up the bicycles at your accommodation.
